*** ROBOCOMM 4.2 BREAKS NEW GROUND IN UNATTENDED COMMUNICATIONS ***
Robocomm 4.2, a comprehensive software tool for unattended BBS
communications was released today by Parsons Consulting. Designed to
appeal to both hobbyists and the business community, Robocomm 4.2
offers its users the ability to easily establish a completely
automated process for repetitive communications chores. Users who
need simple, automated access to industry leading PCBoard and/or
Wildcat! BBS systems can use Robocomm 4.2 to perform mail transfers,
file transfers, new file scans and numerous other routine
communications tasks.
New features in version 4.2 include full support for
communications with PCBoard 14.5 and Wildcat! 3.0+ BBS systems, super-
fast keyword searches, a comprehensive script language, full mouse
support and an improved interactive terminal with "Doorway" mode,
Demon-Dialer, automatic download detection for Zmodem and HS/Link, as
well as capture files and printer logging.
"As the BBS world becomes increasingly sophisticated, callers and
Sysops alike are realizing tremendous productivity gains by automating
their routine communications chores." said Dan Parsons, the program's
author. "With Robocomm, BBS callers are able to use their time more
productively. Robocomm handles the on-line navigation much more
quickly than a human ever could, shifting connect time to off peak
hours and minimizing telecommunications costs. Robocomm users are
able to peruse file lists, files and mail offline, without the phone
company's meter running."
"The world of BBS communications really is exciting. But, before
I found Robocomm it was eating up far too much of my time. Staying on
top of things took a great deal of dedication and technical
expertise," said San Francisco lawyer Steven Guralnick. "Robocomm
takes all the drudgery and complexity out of getting involved in the
BBS scene. It has completely eliminated the time I used to waste
waiting through busy signals and monitoring long file transfers. Now,
I just set Robocomm up to take care of the communications late at
night, while I'm asleep and the phone rates are low. When I get up in
the morning, my mail and requested files are waiting for me."
Robocomm 4.2 is being distributed as "Shareware." The program is
available on PCBoard and Wildcat! BBS systems world-wide under the
file names ROBO42-A.ZIP and ROBO42-B.ZIP. Users are encouraged to
download the program and complete documentation so they can try it
before they buy it. If they continue to use the software after a 30
day evaluation period, they are required to "register" the product by
paying a $40 fee. Printed and bound documentation is available
for an additional $10. Technical support is provided in Robocomm
conferences on popular echo mail networks ILink, RIME, U'NI Net,
SmartNet, and NorthAmeriNet. For direct support and on-line instant
registration, Parsons Consulting operates Group One BBS, a 24 Hour
PCBoard system at 312-752-1258.
Parsons Consulting, located in Chicago, Illinois, is an industry
leader in automated communications software and has been marketing the
increasingly popular Robocomm software for over 3 years. The company
also offers consulting services, providing customized multi-user PC
software development to the business community.
